Larger cruise missiles can carry either a conventional or a nuclear warhead, while smaller ones carry only conventional warheads.

More oxygen means more fuel for the scramjet engine, which enables it to propel the missile even faster. That translates to 11,509 miles per hour, or fast enough to circle Earth in about two hours. Cruise missiles have dramatically changed warfare, as one might expect from a weapon that can fly 1,000 miles and deliver a half-ton high-explosive warhead within 32 feet of a target.
